Parish of the Holy Sacrifice
Booie Manalang and Anne Manalang nee Peña’s wedding is not conventional. They chose black and hues of pink. They decided to wed at the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, which is known for its round and pagan design. True to form, they rounded it off with a reception at Balay Kalinaw, where the antique-inspired interior of the house was very refreshing. From start to finish, they decided that their wedding would be non-conventional. BlackStellar Event was not only a witness to the event; we also helped them pull it off.
Straight from the horse’s mouth, the motif did raise some eyebrows and caused some discussions. The bride and groom stood firm with their decision. Despite this, their strong familial ties proved to be a highlight of the day. The church ceremony started at exactly 4:00 pm with the entourage marching as the first note was played. Booie stood gallantly in his black Barong, waiting for his bride, who was radiant in her white, hand-beaded gown. She walked from the bridal car to the center aisle flanked by Mr. And Mrs. Arsenio Peña.
With the unconventional concept in mind, BlackStellar Events ensured that it would be followed to a tee. The reception program opened with the first dance to the sounds of Forever, a techno and fast song the bride and groom did not anticipate but loved. The guests were entertained by impromptu getting-to-know questions about the bride and groom. The hosts prepared questions to ask the guests as they wait for their turn on the buffet line. The game for single men and women was similar to a popular game show contest–every time a wrong answer is provided, the contestant gets booted out. The contest was a good way of ensuring that someone will win the bouquet and the garter from the bride and groom. Music from SJT helped set the traditional mood amidst the unconventional tone setting a beautiful paradox for the wedding. It also allowed for Anne and Booie to exit gracefully from the venue as they wished before other guests leave, something not seen often in wedding receptions.
The black and pink combination chosen by newlyweds Booie and Anne made a lasting impact to the guests. Guests were not allowed to wear white and with the sea of black and fuchsia pink, Anne, with her white gown complete with a bolero and long train, was the belle of the ball. The couple is known within their circle as driven, precise, spontaneous, and unconventional. These traits endeared them to their friends who also ensured that the wedding is nothing but a success. In the short time, we worked with them, BlackStellar Events wishes Booie and Anne a lifetime of happy smiles same as what we saw throughout the wedding.
